Words of Wisdom

Spring is always known for that 'spring cleaning' routine. And, did you know that by cleaning up your space, where ever it may be, home or office, you can actually clean up your emotions?

You already know how good it feels to clear that mound of paperwork on your desk, or tidy a messy space, or even clean out your closet, so when it comes to you internal spring cleaning, take advantage of what you know already works!

Being unhappy with how your workspace or home feels can generate stress and tension. Excess 'stuff' lying around is a major source of stress and can actually hold you back in life. You have to move around it and through it everyday, and it stays in your mind as a feeling of non-achievement.

So, here are some tips on how to emotionally purge your office!

1. Excuses: How creative can you be when you need an excuse? Use your creativity to blast through the clutter and mess. While doing that, make notes as to why you may be procrastinating to better understand the emotional reasoning of why you may not want to do it or what's holding you back!

2. Limitations: Holding onto things can limit your creativity and capacity to be open minded. If you have not used something in the past year, and it does not have intrinsic or sentimental value, give it away, sell it or throw it out! You will be amazed how this opens you up to new possibilities.

3. Don't Wants: When de-cluttering your space, get rid of things you don't want. Once you have completed that task, you can open your mind to the thing you do want. Make a list of wants and focus all of your attention on getting that list completed. When stating your wants, it should always be stated as if you already have it. Begin your statement with this: "I am so grateful now that I already have..." and you fill in the blank with whatever you want.

Happy Cleaning!
